Does signing a petition really help?

1walk-freeWalk Free is a movement of people everywhere, fighting to end one of the world’s greatest evils: Modern slavery.

Do you often ask yourself whether supporting a Walk Free campaign is really making a difference in the fight against slavery? The answer is yes, absolutely! When you’re part of a campaign, your voice joins a chorus of thousands, amplifying the efforts of anti-slavery activists like yourself to bring us a step closer to ending slavery once and for all.

WATCH and SHARE our new video that shows just how powerful we are when we act together.

In the past two years, millions of anti-slavery activists across the globe have taken millions of actions online and attended thousands of events on the ground to win dozens of campaigns in the fight to end modern slavery.

Here are three examples from just the last few months that show what your signature and other actions have achieved:

  • Warner Bros. committed to taking steps to ensure its Harry Potter chocolates are free from child slavery after more than 400,000 of actions including in-person meetings, phone calls, emails and negative reviews on sites such as Trip Advisor from members of Walk Free.1
  • The Modern Slavery Act became law in the United Kingdom thanks to the sustained dedication of Walk Free activists through 144,177 actions alongside ECPAT UK2, Corporate Responsibility Coalition3, Kalayaan and Justice for Domestic Workers.
  • Nearly 300,000 of actions from Walk Free members and over 40 partners from all over the world helped to influence Members of the European Parliament to vote in favour of a historic new law that requires companies to check their supply chains for conflict minerals.4

Together we have the power to fight modern slavery. And with every new voice that joins the movement we’ll get even closer to our goal of permanently ending slavery.

Please take a moment to WATCH and SHARE our new video and encourage your friends and family to join us in the fight against slavery.

Thank you for being an important part of this incredible community of anti-slavery activists. We can’t wait to see what we achieve together next!

In solidarity,

Joanna and the rest of the Walk Free team
